Bleaklow Farm
Bleaklow Farm, situated in the village of Great Longstone in Derbyshire, dates back to the 17th century. The farmhouse and surrounding land have a long history tied to agriculture and local families. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it operated as a working farm, with records showing it changed hands between several prominent local landowners.
The farm gained notoriety in paranormal circles due to reported ghostly activity over the years. One of the most well-known stories involves the apparition of a young woman in Victorian-era clothing, said to appear in the upper windows of the farmhouse. Witnesses have described her as having a sorrowful expression and sometimes clutching what appears to be a baby.
Another frequently reported phenomenon is the sound of phantom footsteps echoing through the empty barn, often accompanied by the rustling of unseen animals. Some visitors have claimed to hear disembodied voices and whispers, particularly in the evening hours.
In the 1960s, a family living at the farm reported objects moving on their own and doors slamming shut without explanation. They also described a pervasive feeling of being watched, especially in certain rooms of the house.
Local legend speaks of a tragic accident involving farm equipment in the late 19th century, which some believe may be connected to the paranormal activity. However, historical records have not conclusively verified this event.
Over the years, several paranormal investigators have conducted research at Bleaklow Farm, documenting unexplained temperature fluctuations, anomalous electromagnetic readings, and capturing what they claim to be EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) recordings.
